🛍️I took a day off to go clothes shopping. Something nice for when I’m in the office…
Shop 1: Too “fashion” — I tried on a green suit and looked like a leprechaun.
Shop 2: tends to sell things in “skinny”, “slim”, and “muscle”, rather than “trying to look cool in middle age” so it’s a long shot. Pretty bland overall. There’s a black suit suitable for funerals, so maybe they do target my age group after all. And there’s an OK navy linen suit, but nothing in my sizes (it’s Tuesday so the rails were ransacked over the weekend, and I’m Mr Average). Thought I’d try online, so got a pair of trousers in a different colour, but my normal size to check – they’d need a bungee across the front to approach closing them. (Guess they must’ve been slim or skinny.)
Shop 3: suits for insurance salesmen, styled in conservative, risk-free, Yawnsville City, Arizona.
Shop 4: some nice trousers, no matching jackets. Some “shackets” with two or three BIG buttons and chunky collars, like I’m going to headline Wembley Arena with Oasis. An average black suit suitable for funerals.
I might try Vinted.
On the plus side, I got the last parking space at the station. It’s the little wins…
